Brakes.jpg

Brakes are essential to the correct operation of your vehicle. Brake pads must be routinely replaced when they reach the end of there life. The mileage in which this occurs varies depending on multiple factors including vehicle size and type, brake design, driving style, etc. We perform a brake life check at no charge.

Most modern vehicles use a brake pad and disc design. The brake discs or rotors often need to be replaced with the brake pads, especially on foreign cars such as BMW and Mercedes Benz. This is due to the softer materials used to make the brake discs. Replacing brake pads without replacing the brake discs can cause brake vibrations and noise when braking, therefore we recommend replacement of the brake discs when brake pads are replaced. Feel free to contact us with specific questions about your vehicles brakes.

Many trucks, especially older model year vehicles, use a brake shoe and drum design on the rear axle. Though these vehicles use a different design, the brake shoes are similar to brake pads in that they need to be replaced regularly when they reach the end of their life. In most cases, we recommend replacement of the brake hardware, including springs and pins, with brake shoe replacement. Due to their enclosed design, brake shoes and hardware often needs to be cleaned and adjusted to prevent noise and improper or premature wear. Whether your shoes need to be replaced, or simply need to be cleaned and adjusted, we've got you covered.

Unlike vehicles with brake pad and disc designs, brake drums often do not need to be replaced with brake shoes. The common exception to this rule is when your brake shoes wear out completely and the metal backing makes contact with the drum, often referred to as "metal to metal". We perform a brake check at no charge, and can tell you whether need just shoes or both shoes and drum replacement.
